I saw a few on the track back in the middle 90s, but none locally. Once in a while you'll see one show up for AHRMA events even today for SOS races. You can see one in the Barber museum on display. Go ahead and fondle it like I did.

Jody, if I came into some money I'd buy one in a heartbeat but for now I'd be stoked to watch and listen to one out on track.
(maybe fondle it on the quiet afterwards )
I watched one years back in morning warm up and fell in but it spat its guts in the race while leading and that was the last time i saw one running in the flesh
You know of one?????

I want one of those so bad. I had the privilege of seeing one in action in spain. All the other riders on the track were trying to catch up, and failing.

the engine is a marvel in engineering. There is a dummy piston contraption to counter and bring as much balance as possible.

as a matter of fact im friends with the guy that won a couple national championships on one. his name is Jeff Nash and he owns 2 Ducati dealerships called Advanced Motorsports up in the Dallas & Fort Worth area. Jeff is also well known for his talents as an engine tuner & builder as well. long before he got his dealership, i visited his shop behind his house where he used to machine his own rods & pistons for the mono. to date Jeff is one of the most impressive people i know both on the track and in the shop. next time i see u Mike, ill have to tell u about the trip we took to Willow Springs back in 1997 (we had 3 monos in the trailer on that trip). here are sum links to give u a little info about my kiwi buddy Jeff:

his dealership also has Ducati only trackdays:

Doh! I forgot about Jeff. I haven't seen him since a practice day at Oak Hill in 2000. I never saw his SOS bikes, but I knew he had them. He was riding an ex-Pro Thunder bike that day and was having a ton of fun leaving more tire on the track than on the carcass.
