Looks like a 2004 Kawi ZX-6R for me

Again, do not want to jinx this, but if all goes well, tomorrow night I will have her in my garage. Will come with all the track trimmings (suspension, skins, exhaust, blah blah blah).

Any unbiased input (things to look for when checking before I hand over the cash)? Any input on the bike in general as in from maintenance stand point, serviceability, part availability, etc, etc.

Really appreciate it.

i always check the chain.....you can tell a lot about how someone takes care of their bike by the way the chain looks. if it's filthy.....then i'd ask more questions.

also bounce the suspension up and down....and check the fork tubes to see if there is any oil leakage. put the bike on a rear stand and run it through the gears real quick to make sure it's shifting properly.

good luck and enjoy!

It's the 05-06 that has trans. issues. The 03-04 is solid.

I have been searching about this and the consensus seems to say if you have 03-04 tranny is great. If you have 05-06 tranny problems are likely.
Even seen that on the kawi forums. Will find out, right?

the cam tensioner will probaly be noisy. easy to work on but proping the tank can be a challenge unless you know what to un-do and how to get around some things.

Yes the 03-04's were solid, The 05-06's were the ones plaqued with tranny problems. Although I have a 2005 636 and it has 14,500 miles on it and bout 20 trackdays and it has never let me down once. it is still rock solid, I believe allot of the people were posting about them was just pure lack of maintenance and poor riding. i myself have really beat the out of my bike at trackdays and also it has been wrecked 3 times, Along with a 120mph cartwheel and I rebuilt everything except the motor and tranny and it still runs like a champ. When I wrecked it the first time was when I cartwheeled it and all that was left was the motor and frame.
