testing the waters on a charity meet n greet

The holidays are coming up and we were just hit pretty hard by a hurricane. So, I decided I wanted to throw a charity fund meet and greet.

What do I have in mind you ask? Why, an auction of course. MH members get auctioned off to the highest bidder.

There will some sort of rules that will come later, but basically you are at the person who paid for yous beck and call until midnight.
If you are married and want to participate, have your SO bid for you. It's for charity.

What I need from you MHers:
  • post in this thread if you are ok with being nominated for the auction. we will do nominations privately by pm.
  • if you have any other ideas post it in this thread
  • we need a location, centrally preferred. I would rather this include everyone and not be area specific.
ALL proceeds will go to charity (that is still unnamed, so post your ideas on that one also), unless we end up having to rent somewhere.

I am thinking of the second weekend in November as the final date.

Oh yes, and I have drug Mala and her meat bag into this with me as a party backer

If you were asking as far as where we think the charity money should go to, here is my idea.

Give it back to MH.
We need to find the MH member or members who were left with the biggest burden from the storm. I do not mean the person with necessarily the most damage. I mean the person or persons who this has financially hurt the most and is having hard time just making it by at the moment.

Now of course everyone would want this, so I suggest a secret panel of several level headed MH members to take applications and determine which members are truly in need of assistance. All of this would be kept completely confidential, unless the recipient or recipients doesn't mind.

If Joy goes up for bid, we need a cap. That could cause the next financial meltdown. You would have guys taking out 2nd, 3rd, 4th mortgages to make that bid.

Anonymous would be the most respectful way if she chooses to do it through MH

+1 I agree. But if the member wanted to be known as the receipent then I would be OK with that. Otherwise everything would be kept strictly confidential.

If you're thinking about volunteering but you have a SO, remember this isn't an auction for a date (though if the two participants are of a like mind--who're we to say) it's simply an auction for reasonable rights to that person till midnight.

For example:
Say Azylum nominates himself and you win the bid at $46. You could do something like sit in an IHOP and discuss his fascinating evolution into the Chosen One, or you could rent a rubber chicken costume and ask him to wear it while he sings you Christmas carols at a karaoke bar. Your choice.

Awesome idea Scatter!
