I have an older Oregon pencil cam. It came with a mount with a flat bottom and I just velcro it to the side of my helmet. Tried it on the fairing but there is too much buzz and vibration.

It takes decent video, sound is , and a 2GB SD card will do about 1.5 hours of vids.

thanks
I got one and the quality sucks, but it's cheap, waterproof, and durable. Here's a clip of mine http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kCcDfUpxVsc

The 2GB card holds 1hr of video on the highest setting.

I used the handlebar mount that came with the camera and attached it to the mirror stem on the bike, seemed to work well.

camera mount for bike...

One of the things that suck about it is the SD card sometimes comes loose from vibrating/shaking while riding the bike, if that happens you lose all the video you just took. You can put tape around the card and it helps though.

Does yours have an S-video input plug? You can get pencil cams that will plug in your camcorder, and you leave the camera in a tank bag or backpack.
