a few weeks ago a guy bought his first bike at my work, got himself a Vulcan Mean Streak. Claimed he knew how to ride, but one of the service writers and a salesman did not believe him and suggested he get a buddy to ride it home. The guy swore he knew what he was doing...gets on the bike with no gear at all, fires it up, revs it a few times, pops the clutch, gets wobbly and goes down 20 feet later. Broke off the left foot peg and brake pedal scarred up the black ceramic coated pipes and some other minor damage. He gets up and asks if it will take more than a few minutes to fix his bike so he can go home....anyway as long asyou dont do like i him it sounds good. congrats and have fun!

didn't want to put up what kinda bike I get. You get flamed for being n00bz and buyin anything other than a 250, remember It's not a busa, I didn't do anything crazy but just not the largely accepted idea what's best, but who cares.

I think I picked alright, but I did get what I want, which I'm sorry wasn't an old ragged, ridden hard and put away wet 250. **** it, if I break it, I'll fix it. Me or the bike. Hopefully if I break something, it's fixable anyways. I can always hope so much.

got you a 750 or a 1000

i started out on a 600 and i love my bike, i never looked back after hearing about what people said about getting a small bike and then upgrading... i dont have time for all that

I bought my 636 and took it easy and learned at my own pace... and almost 30,000 miles later. still going strong and a few trackdays under my belt so im happy with my choice!

now just trying to find the funds to buy a new r1 and downgrade my 636 to track only

The 636 was my first bike as well. I know starting small is the right choice, but I just couldn't do it. Though I only have 24,500 miles and 2 TD's.

Sorry, I didn't have my M endorsement yet.

I believe I picked mine up a few days before my weekend MSF class. I rode around the neighborhood and in a parking lot RIGHT across the street a few times. Once everything was legit, I was on the road, freeway, wherever on my new to me 600cc sportbike 250 wasn't even an option
Glad I started on a 600 as well, no regrets!

08 sv650 mmmmm its so nice.
extremely low miles, which I likeo mucho. Only been able to put on 60 miles so far because I had to work today, but it has been lots of fun so far.

Haven't really got on it at all but it def. doesn't have any problems getting up to freeway speeds to merge and all that good stuff. Only thing I'm scared of that I didn't even imagine I would be: the big overpasses that connect the different freeways and what not. spooky.
