? really? I can't say enough good things about mine. I never feel it which is the best compliment I can get a dampener.

it's off when I'm going slow around a parking lot, and on when I'm hauling .

My opinion was that is was not predictable as to when is was on and to what degree. I got rid of mine for a GPRv4 and have been very happy with the GPR so far. I no longer do any street riding, but I'd still prefer the GPR over stock if I was to go back to the street.

I ditched mine for a Ohlins and it's a totally different bike. I couldn't believe the difference. I've had the opportunity to ride a friends 07 back to back with mine since the swap and it's WAY better.

i had a 2006 1000rr for a while....the HESD sucks big nuts. especially on the track.....having a computer telling it when to work and when not to is not a good idea. i'd rather have something consistent....better to kno that it's workin the same EVERYTIME you ride, and not when you ride harder.

I ran an 06 with the stock damper on it for about a year - all on the track. It was perfect everywhere except going over the launch @ MSR Houston back when CCW was the norm. It would very mildly wiggle it's head when hard on the gas and if I got into the bumpy area, and not do it every lap - it was never violent - never really an issue, nonetheless I ordered an Ohlins.

I put the Ohlins on and set it about mid - setting and it shook worse over the launch than the stock HESD. To get the Ohlins as good as the stock one was took about 1 turn out from max. That's where I ran it for the next 1 1/2 years on the track (7800 track miles).

I have let Larry Myers ride my Ohlins equipped 06 several times @ MSR - Houston and he always backs the Ohlins off from where I have it set.

I have an 07 I ride on the street and an 08 for the track - both have the stock dampers and I am for sure not going to change the street bike and will not change the track bike unless it gives problems which so far there are no indications of.

If I were you I would leave the stock one and go ride - if you're not having any headshake I'd leave it alone - it's nice not having the resistance when driving around the pits - if you set the Ohlins at or near max on the track, it's a good way to fall in the pits.

i got a stock on my 06 1000rr and a gpr on on my 08600rr
for the track i like my adjustments, however i have learned to adapt to the hesd on the street, it took some getting used to, coming from only using GPRs, i hated it at first, but when you learn to work it its all good.

My 05 has plenty of track and street time. A lot of the feel is gonna be in your set-up too. My bike has been set-up by adjusted specifically for me. Both Patrick and Andy have had a hand in it. I'm not fast by any means 1:57's on the Honda at TWS (Texas World Speedway) , but HESD works just fine. I'll take it to MSRH next time I go, but I expect it to exhibit nothing but good manners.

i think they work fine... i had no issues with the one i rode on the LSTD 04 1000rr. my 06 came with an OHLINS already on it, but to be honest... i cant even tell the difference. why spend $$$ when u dont need to.

I love the one on my 07 600RR, no issues at all, can hardly tell it's there. If you do decide to swap, hit me up as I bought a GPR and have never mounted it.

IMO the one on the 07+600 is far superior to the ones on the 04-07 1000. The higher speed steering feels much lighter, but the stablility seemed really good. The 08 1000 was supposed to be revised to react more like the little brother's.
