Positive on the F1, I haven't had a set of crashed Yoshimitsu to know about them yet how they use any tyoe of gel coat, but I'd bet they do- Tony could answer since he's seen some crashed sets.

I agree it's what makes most of the cheap sets brittle. It's easier for them to make the bodywork with the fine edges and crevices in the outer "skin" of the bodywork to make it with gel coat rather than use vacu-forming with resins and fiberglass like Attack and Sharkskinz do. They also fill those edges with plastic body filler and spot putties to "fix" imperfections, which usually chip/ break away pretty easily.

I use a gel coat here that is more flexible than the stuff yall use on boats (possibly just the hardener is different), made specifically for flexible applications. I'd have to get out to the shop to know the brand, but can post it up tomorrow. Thanks for the offer, but hopefully I won't ever need a "barrel full" of gel coat! I don't ever want to be that busy!

Hotbodies is the only "major" brand I know of that had the ECU access, so I'm guessing it's them? Chris Corder was supposed to get me a set of the "new generation" Hotbodies to paint up, but I think he's waiting until after TWS (Texas World Speedway) to get it to me.

As I mentioned, there are anomalies and sometimes you'll get some Pit-Ek or other Ebay/ cheap brands that fit pretty well. I have also seen plenty of folks that say "yeah, these fit great, no issues with fitment", but when I see them in person, I see a bunch of issues and most of them are gaps/ misalignment. Will that affect performance? Not in the least. Does it fit like OEM? No, and it's usually always harder to fit something with misalignment's and gaps than it is to fit others without those issues.

As I said though, there are those that will get the cheap stuff and are perfectly happy with it. I don't blame them, it's all good. Every set of Attack or Sharkskinz I've had though has been the Bee's Knees, and I'd never trade it off. Especially when I know that the likelihood of getting a cheap set that fits is pretty rare, and even more rare that it won't be brittle/ have bubbles/ or need bodywork right out of the box.

Jeff bought that F1 set for under $400 shipped within 7 days of ordering, and he's been very happy with it, and now it's got a cheap paint job on it that makes it look very decent indeed. So there ya go.

I turned my first race bike into a race bike cause I was interested in racing and you really cant race in the WSMC without race body work and full ama spec safety wire job and I went with the shark skinz they were pricey but the fit and finish was better than others.

I took a different route and purchased a track/race ready bike after looking at how much it would cost to convert my old bike. I'm no pro so I don't need a brand spanking new bike and then convert like HONKY does so I ended savinga bunch of money and getting everything I wanted and then some.

Well I havent bought the yoshimitsu's yet. I did see them on racers supply co. website. $299 plus 50 shipping. Was going to deal with Larry, but lost connection, left message, no call back, called today, no answer. So, gonna kick it around some more I guess.

Get the F1 Bodywork, it was $340 shipped to JeffLSTD for his '08 ZX10R and he got it in like 6 days to his front door

Shoot him a PM and he'll get you the contact information.
