ok IMO no, I would not put lowjack on any of my bikes, just because I know how it works and it is easy to disable, checked it out on an r6 I bought, 2 black boxes electrical taped together, ones about 4 in by 4in and the other is about 1in wide and 4 in long( guessing it's the back up battery). So if you remove the unit from the bike it will only transmit for 24 hours using the backup battery, but then if you cut the wire coming from the smaller box(backup battery) it is useless.... Someone please correct me if I'm wrong, it also isn't very hard to find on the bike either

bikes equipped with lo jack dont have a big neon sign saying so. theyre not gonna know its there. most theives dont know about bikes, let alone that theres lo jack for them.

btw, why the would you tell the whole world exactly how to permanently disable it, where its at and what it looks like? not too bright...

IF you're risking your "street cred" which I'm sure is worth ALOT by ratting out thieves, maybe you should reevaluate who you hang with.

you say most thiefs don't know about motorcycles? Then why would they steal them? All these stolen bike threads aren't because a crackhead is tired of walking so he steals a motorcycle, they are chop shop owners and theifs who need the bike for numerous reasons, and I didn't say were to find it just that my 12 year old brother could find it, and the whole world isn't on mh

then explain why they have a 99% recovery rate, most (if not all) with in teh first twelve hours of it being reported stolen? since these thieves are so intelligent as you imply....

lol and nowhere in your post did you say your "12 year old brother could find it". you said exactly how to disable it. i guess you think people dont lurk here like they do on HI?

ok good one, but if people who stole bikes wernt aware of it why isn't there a 100 percent recovery? Why is there 1 percent that wernt recoverd?

because there are those few that know what they are doing, OR they just get lucky and dont get caught before the bike is dismantled. i dont have exact figures, but maybe Patrick can chime in on this. he does. all i know is everyone i know with lo jack is happy with it. its the reason i still have my baby.

insurance companies total out bikes all the time because a couple of plastic pieces got broken. you think they wont do the same if half the bike is gone or wrecked? i park mine inside my apt even tho i have lo jack. just because you have it doesnt mean the bike is unstealable, just helps you get it back. but your buddy kinda shafted himself not having theft insurance, which i also have.

Low Jack was one of my first accessories on the list for my new bike but I have yet to get it . . . It sounded like a great idea but I didn't have the cash at the time. What is the newest system? How often do the upgrade? Are the upgrades retro-active, or does an older unit need to be replaced with a newer after a few years? What's the longest any of yall have had one installed on a bike?
