bike dealers? sales good or bad

i was talkin to a friend this weekend in vegas, and he used to be a sales mgr from a multi bike chain in CA. got laid off about 6 mos ago.

and he was thinking of relocating (+ family) to houston.

told him i'd ask around to see what his prospects here are.

they had a 6 week rush of purchases while gas prices were $4+ . after that things tapered off. things seem very slow on the sales floor lately. getting customers financing is the biggest obstacle. alot of wives & girlfriends are financing bikes these days. the sad thing is the GF's get dumped a month or 2 after the purchse and she's left hangin with the note.

Man, I have seen that before. Some loser that has never paid a bill screws some gullible girl.


edit: I'm all for the girl, but anally, not financially.
