I guess this is like tuning the bike for aftermarket accessories, correct? If so how critical is it to the bike if it hasn't been done? I just bought it and am new so i would appreciate any help. Thanks

What all have you done to your bike(engine wise)?

I run a full system w/airbox bla bla bla and no power commander with No Problems.

Unless you have engine mods or a full exhaust you dont need it. And even if you do have stuff done it is not a MUST, but it does help you fine tune the A/F ratio and produce more powa

If your runner was a bike and got a new set of shoes(exhaust/mods/etc) the map would be the soft, form-fit inserts that allow you to run further and more comfortable.

The bike came with yoshimura full exhaust, air box, and i was told it was jetted. I bought this bike to begin. I am totally new to the bike scene. I appreciate the feedback i am getting though
