hill country ride...and a ticket

rode hill country today.. collapsed a two day plan into one day...started from home at 6am, reached back at 10pm... 716miles. some absolutely amazing roads out there.. esp 337, 39, and willow city loop. that place is so beautiful even now, I wonder how amazing it would be in spring.(thanks to Michael(train460) for all the help with route and all.)

also, got myself a stupid ticket...damned caldwell county cop's car had no markings of a usual cop car..not even lights on top.. the plain white car just had a small sign on the side silently sayin COP. bottomline, i ended up overtaking the cop :BangHead: in a double yellow line..doing 71 in a 55. now I m off on the cop.. cos 71 in a 55 on a farm road isnt really dangerous... and neither my overtake was, bcos though it was a double yellow, there was clear view ahead for at least quarter of a mile..

nevertheless i gotta take care of it now that I got it..I would appreciate any help. i dont hv a frigging clue as to how to handle a ticket..this is my first(this is at lockhart... arnd 150miles from houston).thanks for any help

716 miles is a lot of riding...good thing you had fun. As far as the cop, don't be , he was just doing his job and you did kinda break the rules. Sometimes you get away w/ it and others you don't

considering the circumstances as mentioned, do I have a fair chance of getting it dismissed if I use an attorney?

never had to use one YET but have heard of guys dealing with david sprecher outa houston, some guys getting 20-30 tickets and not ONE one there record after he does his thing.
usually costs less than the ticket itself
like $200 or so.
I would call and ask

If it's your first, call the judges clerk, tell her you want to take defensive drivng, do your thing then mail it all in. You never have to go to court and you get a discount on your insurance

call the place up and see if they'll allow deferred adjudication. you're gonna pay a bit of money, but it'll stay off your record, if you don't get a ticket in that county for 3 months.

i still say to call one of those lawyers out there or to just call the clerk on the ticket and ASK who the judge would recomend.
don't hurt to ask and you will not have been the first.
I would not take DD or defured, just me when i bet a lawyer will get it thrown out.
just my 02 tho.

Left on 1431
Left on 183 @Cedar park
Right on 290 to Houston

I ended up doing 8 of the 10 best roads in Texas on this trip(acc to Ride Texas magazine, March2005 issue). Total distance comes to 700+ miles, as I posted earlier.
1291, 535, 337, 39, Willow city loop, 1431 are MUST DOs according to me. 335 and 336 r two other gr8 roads which I could not do.

I took a lot of routes that train460 had PMed me from his trip. I have copied some of those here. I hope he doesnt mind. Also, there could be some unintentional mistakes. Please verify before you use this.
