I've been watching these videos. They're insanely basic so probably not useful to many here, but they're about my speed.

The guy mentions the negative first issue about two-thirds of the way in.

I dunno if wal-mart does this with the mix it yourself batteries. i don't think they do.

Yes. you can run the connector to your tail compartment and you could plug it in to the battery tenderer in your garage to maintain charge and condition your battery when not riding. They are not that expensive either. You can get the regular one for <$50 online. I think it $50 or $60 at Cycle Gear. Great investment.

Well, it works, but just not consistently, so it's better than nothing till I can get the new one charged. Although...I wondering if I should hang on to the new one--keep it in it's box. Maybe my current one only needs a bit of tending/charging and it'd be good to go for a while.
