Great bike, shytty transmission.

They handle great, have cool stuff (like Diggler said, slipper clutch, etc), and they are very plentiful for parts and stuff.

All that said, if you're looking for a dedicated track bike, get one that is already set up for racing, is within your price range, and checks out (by a shop or knowledgeable friend) to be a clean well sorted bike, and has a clean vin. Brand or model rarely matters when in comparison to other bikes, most modern bikes are extremely similar and only the most competent folks will be able to notice a difference.

Personally, I look for bikes that have a good history (like the GSXR line) for reliability and good power, have spare parts that are readily available (stick to the Honda RRs/ Kawi/ ZX-Ride Smart/ GSXRs/ R6/ R1/ SV, not the more street oriented versions), and finally I look at a basic realistic look at resale.

Pretty much any fuel injected modern bike (like '01- newer) is going to be a very capable, good handling, and powerful machine that will serve you well as a track steed.

You'll just have to watch the cmra bbs, WERA bbs, etc. There's always a ton of bikes for sale on those sites after the season ends.

You'll catch some here and there on MH too, but you're a lot more likely to find them on the racing sites.

I have 2 ZX6R's for sale and they are listed in the For Sale section of this site.

http://www.motohouston.com/forums/sh...ad.php?t=60015

I am negotiable on the price and will throw in a free set of leathers with purchase.

Werd!

I love mine! Handles great and has alot of for a 600 class bike. I had an 07 10r for awhile and it was fast no doubt but it was alot of unnecessary power and alot more bike to move around. The 636 is easy to flick around and is by far the most fun bike i have ridden/owned. Ive heard people say they have tranny issues but mine hasnt skipped a beat yet!

I rode a buddies 03 636 and i liked it but nothing even close to the 05/06 models IMO. My other buddy had an 06 zx6rr that i rode and it handled great but i really felt the extra displacement when i got back on my bike again. I personally dont see the hype over those things although they are a mean little machine. Feels like a slightly slower 636 to me. Ive also ridden a couple gsxr 750's and im honestly not impressed. Off the bat, i didnt like the feel. They dont seem to have anywhere near as aggressive rider position and they seemed to lack midrange where i felt even the 636 could pull harder than that. Granted, the 750's were stock and my bike is modded and -1 in the front but you would think those extra cc's would shine through but they didnt at all.
