Anyone thinking about running the Mile needs to mail or fax in your registration. They already had over half of the spots filled like 2-3 wks ago. I faxed mine in on monday. $200 registration by fax or mail, $230 at the gate. Also you need to look for hotels because I guarantee you that all the hotels in Goliad and Beeville are booked solid. We booked ours last month.

As for me, I am not sure if the busa is gonna make it. Its getting close but I am still waiting on a few parts, finish installing everything, then it all needs to get dyno-tuned on a better dyno then the one I used a couple weeks ago. Chances are probable that I will just end up running the 1000. Since its an 01, its actually a 988cc and that gets me in the 749-999cc class so that will help, not the 1000cc-1249cc class which I would get killed in.

The Texas Mile is a freakin blast. I enjoy watching everything, talking to everyone and hanging out with my buddies all weekend. Even if you don't race, there is so much action to watch and cars/bikes to look at, you are busy as all weekend.... One of my most favorite events to go to in motorcycle or car related. Anyone that can go, should, even if its just for saturday.....

You can get a hair over 160 (speedoheald) on a 600cc but not much more than that...

There are rooms available. I booked one and now I have to cancel do to being stupid and forgetting a friends party. Its the Budget Inn 361-645-3251. I have to warn you that they are the rudest bunch I have ever talked to on the phone. They were rude as just making the reservation. I sat on hold to cancel and they left me on hold for 5 min. only to come back and yell at me to call back in 15. They may be Osama supporters.

I plan on going to this event as a newbie. I finally got back in town and settled so pending work, should be able to make it. Just looking to baseline the 08 before the major mods start...

Anyone know if you need SS valve stems? I don't see them on the list but LSR events require them so I wasn't sure if Texas did?

What hotel's are you guys staying at? I need to get everything finalized this week now that I can make it. Hope to see you guys out and put some names/faces together with this site.

No stainless steel stems. Really the main things you need are a dead man kill switch w/lanyard, chain guard, safety wire the drain plug and oil filter, also safety wire the pinch bolts on the front axle and a cotter pin in the rear axle like stock. Ofcourse full leathers, Snell approved helmet etc. i don't think they tech inspect that hard on bikes at the Mile. I am sure the Tech guy at HRP is more strict.

Bring that 08, this will be a GOOD baseline test for it. Registration is $200 though....

Thanks, can't wait to make it out. My only concerns are my leathers are a European brand so as long as those pass tech, I should be good to go. I've got to drill out the axle since they don't put a cotter pin the 08's with the new lock nut...

What are you guys with 1000's doing that don't have a factory cotter pin? I'm affraid the lock nut is going to break if I tap it for safety wire.
