Motorcycle Garage Break in - Almost

Somebody tried to break into my garage this weekend using the old "pry the door open on top and pull the emergency release rope that attaches the door to the motor". Some damage on the door, bike still there and nothing gone.

This is holiday season and if you are going to be gone from the house make sure to deadbolt your garage door, turn off the power to the garage door motor and mine the back and front yard.

Stay Safe

Tell you a trick:
Go to Radio Shack, buy a remote switch assy. for appliances, plug it in between the garage door plug and the outlet. When you leave turn the power off to the door.

But they could still hinge the garage door back and pull the release rope, this would disconnect the door from the motor and you could open up the door...even if the door motor is unplugged.

You could just disconnect the release rope. Assuming you have another way into the garage in case the remote doesnt work (ie side door)

Make sure that the thief is in the garage when you gun the 'em down , if they fall out, drag them back in.

same here. I've thought about doing the deadbolt thing, but it's sorta a hassle. Oh well, better than losing my bike, so I guess Ima start doing that whenever my bike's in the garage.

I usually park the trucks right up to the garage also, so they have to steal the truck first if they want to get into the garage.
