anyone know anything about air compressors?

mine ran for about an hour while i was painting my garage with an air gun. started cutting out some. i went to turn it off and before i got there it stopped running but made a whining sound (like the motor was trying to push but wouldnt go.) then it stopped whining right before i turned it off.

now it wont turn on at all. no sounds no nothing.
