DO THE FORKS HAVE OIL IN THEM OR NO, AND HOW DO THEY COME APART!?

if its the ttr, then its the same as a 50.

unbolt the forks from the bike. take out the 14mm bolts at the top of the forks. take off the black dust covers at the bottom of the gold tubes. slide those off, when those are off you should see a black circlip in there. you can use needle nose, flat head screwdriver, but if you have circlip pliers it will make your life much easier. squeeze those clips together, then pull them out. after that, now the silver fork tubes should slide out with the spring attached. NOW, the tricky part, there should be a black plastic ring with a small hole in it at the bottom of the spring. thats a pin that has to be knocked out. knock that out with a punch of the correct size. now that spring should come off. now at the top of the spring theres a nut type deal. put that in a vice with the flat sides in the vice. now instead of threading it to the left like you would think, thread it to the right as if you are tightening the spring. it actually makes it come off. you will need like plumbers pliers, or i always wipe the spring clean and use heavy duty gloves and i usually get them threaded off by hand. there should be one of each side of the spring. you do both of them the same way. now when you put the new ones back on just do all the steps in reverse. when you thread the spring back on, turn it the the left until at the top the very end of the spring should squish down and touch the ring under it. if it isnt touching, you haven't threaded it far enough if that makes sense. after you get them reassembled, put an ASSSSS load of grease in the sprring and all on the outside and everything, i mean a TON. the more there packaged, the less ringing you will be hearing from the vibration of the springs hitting the tubes. the more the better. and thats it. rock em!

if its the TTR50, you're beating yourself up over nothing. it's so simple you'll wish that you hadn't created this thread.
