+1.... there are loads of motorcycles that aren't available for sale here in the US. that doesn't make them shitty.... it just means there is no market for them here since everyone seems to want 600cc motorcycles.

i have ridden one chinese bike and worked on numerous hyosungs.

the chinese bike was a sundiro roadrunner, 125cc, and randomly just died. pretty much whenever it wanted to for no reason we could determine.

the hyosungs....jsut cheap and poor quality control. well designed though. but its the little things like NOT draining the bowls of the carbs before shipping them out, so the first thing you do when you get ready to sell it is pull the carbs and rebuild them they are so gunked up. then you usually have to fix a leaky gasket or two, often the one on the fuel sending unit is squeezed out and leaking. If you are lucky the alternator does not grenade itself too fast either. then you end up with the one i am working on right now at 3k miles it decided to make gold metal flake paint out of the oil. looks like it might be transmission but not sure.

In the end I will stick with known brands and known quality for anything that costs me over $1k.

That's what he told his MIL to justify her financially carrying him. She is just repeating it I'm guessing.

a buddy of mine in austin bought one for kicks knowing that it's a cheap POS. he was constantly losing bolts, and the exhaust manifold kept shearing exhaust bolts.

check out what the owners themselves are saying. i did a bit of research on them myself before deciding they were , and i have a pretty open mind when it comes to stuff like this. http://www.lifan-moto-forum.com/YaBB.pl

Price is around $1100, shuipping included, for the same bikes on ebay. Crappy, but they serve a purpose. Ride em like you think they might blow, and they can serve you well for a decade. The motors are basically exact copies of Honda XR200 motors, which are bored versions of the CB 125 motors that keep the 3rd world (and Mexico) running for cheap.

Great for learning, they have like 12 HP and 60 MPH top speed. Once you've dropped it once and learned to ride on it, it's basically paid for itself, so who cares what happens to it, right?
