k4 GSXR 750: gauge cluster, turn signals, and headlights all quit together!?

Hey guys I'm a new member of the forum but longtime GSXR 750 rider (had an 02 for several years and traded up to an 04 last year). My 04 was bought as a salvage title and the place I got it from told me that the gauge cluster was non original. I rode it on a chilly night last month and the cluster started flickering on and off with each bump I hit. I haven't rode it much since then, a few short trips, but I didn't notice it doing it after that. I rode to work today and on the way in, it just shut off. I have a neutral light but no other gauge cluster functions.

The tach was stuck at 7k when the cluster went blank, but I stopped for fuel and it reset at 0 and has stayed there. When you key the ignition to "on" and then back to "off" the tach sweeps then comes back to rest at 0.

My front turn signals do not work.

Both headlights (low and hi) do not work.

My rear parking light, brake light, and turns all work, and the bike runs and drives fine.

I checked but did not replace the fuses; they all looked fine.

It's probably the gauge cluster or the connector plug.

your subharness is bad or you have a loose connection where the sub harness meets the main harness.. wiggle the harness at that plug and it will prolly start working again. all o4 and o5s do that eventually

Can you describe where this plug would be located?

follow the connector from the speedo to the main harness. It should be close to the left or right side of the intake tube.

Thanks guys I'll try to check it out tonight.

If just the cluster was bad would the headlights have stopped working also???

i was thinking since all the front stuff (lights, indicators, gauges) all quit at the same time its almost certainly wiring.

No coincidence, too, that I've been riding on some bumpy roads lately.

hey it was that big plug right above the fender (below the left ram air tube) I guess it just shook loose. i plugged it in better and everything is working fine. maybe I should zip tie it together and up out of the way.

Thanks for the help guys.
