Toll Road To Crack Down On Reckless Drivers
More Officers, Unmarked Police Cars To Spot Aggressive Driving

POSTED: 9:26 am CST November 17, 2005
UPDATED: 9:34 am CST November 17, 2005

HOUSTON -- Tollway drivers with a lead foot or who like to weave in and out of lanes will want to pack some patience beginning Thursday.

The Harris County Toll Road Authority began cracking down on aggressive driving at 7 a.m.

Under the campaign, more officers will be patrolling tollways. Unmarked police cars will also be used to spot reckless drivers.

"They will summon the marked units and they will follow the vehicle, the violator, until a marked unit catches up to make the stop," Harris County Toll Road Authority Randy Johnson said.

Aggressive driving has been blamed for one-third of accidents and two-thirds of fatal wrecks.

I've hauled down Beltway 8 a few times either in the cage or on the bike. I'm pretty sure they will catch a lot of folks because people drive like a bat outta down the toll roads.

It's ok though, he was only 11 hours behind the ball. But if someone saw his post and not mine, and it saved them a speeding ticket.... then
