no...

we are getting away from the fact that the busa is ugly.

and looks like a whale.

wish I had the pics of the busa lowered on Crystal Beach... would be funny. Looked like a jetski going through the soft sand.

Since the subject of on-track preformance came up, let me say that several years ago, a mid-western based road racer by the name of Rad Greaves built a Hayabusa for the track. His bike was faster than snot and reputed to be a very competent handler to boot. Rad, who was no slouch before the Busa project, did quite well on the big bike in the mid-western area, if memory serves me, and he even took it to some AMA events and didn't suck on it.

I think the bottom line is that the Busa wasn't built for roadracing, but still can do the job in an adequate manner. There are better tools for that job, however, so therefore no one does, save for the oddball experiments. That said, the CBR1000R has got to be considered to be a letdown when on-track prowess is measured. Sure, if you pour enough money into it, it can be a very nice club racer, but they aren't even as popular on the track these days as RC51s were a few years ago. To be fair about that, however, you could point to a lot of reasons for that, such as aftermarket development and OEM contingency for the relatively sparse CBR1000R populations at the racetrack.

My opinion? Well, if pressed I'll say that for the record, I am not a huge fan of the Busa's looks, but it's bulbous shape serves a pretty decent purpose if you're tucked in during a high speed run. I am even less of a fan of the CBR1000R, a bike whose choppy lines and aborted end looks like it was designed by some wayward Japanese after too much saki. It's not , it's rape.

but you have to admit, the cbr1kr has a drivetrain that makes anything else obsurb to consider. With the weight and handling agility its right up there as a top dog w the zx10r.

but those two bikes have so much immense power that its almost silly.

I dont think the busa was ever really considered for the track; I mean the whole bike was built in a wind tunnel; they spent 10k on the intake runners alone. It was made for speed. And those fairings make for very little wind resistance at those higher speeds... its nice!

Im just trying to reverse the stereotype of squid, chromed-out, stretched busa w less then a year of experience.

A prostock car wouldn't do so well on a track but you know any of us will be willing to take it out there
