not paranoid just bs'n. it just seems when people are killed in situations like this that someone should be held liable. seems like they always get to drive home to their families when they just took someones life based on the decision they made. for instance, if you miss your exit on the highway or your turn on said road, you are supposed to take the next exit and go back, not jet across 3 lanes to keep from being inconvenienced. does an 18 wheeler have the rite to turn from the middle lane? just to keep from being inconvenienced? rip. big sux man. not to start a conversation, just sayin.

Pretty sure everyone knows that any 18wheeler makes wide turns....

didnt mean to flame, just hate seeing these threads get whored up with who was right or wrong. Maybe each RIP thread should have a link to a discusion thread.

18 wheelers make wide rights all the time. and yes, even from the middle lane. the vehicle in front has right of way, so they should have paid attention to the blinkers and not street racing.

RIP to the fallen riders.

Rip and +1 to paying attention to the semi, they do that all the time. They don't have the turning radius of a motorcycle. any more info?

it is illegal for a truck to swing wide left to make a right hand turn. driver is at fault as much as the bikers.

Story in Houston Chronicle

2 riders... that sucks

gotta give 18 wheelers the right of way by default, otherwise...

i dont agree. everyone here knows to watch for rigs just as they knew. wether its legal or not, sometimes its the only way to get into a turn. unless he wasnt using his turn signals, i dont think hes at fault. obviously he was well into the turn enough for them not to be able to react.

Thumbs down Stop running over us

I am sorry to hear about that , I hate hearign about these things
I have had this happen to me took 4 weeks to heal up, and there are still scars on myself and my lady (the bike)

I saw the aftermath of a truck vs cruiser on feeder rd right before the willclayton exit it looked horrible the motorcycle appeared as it as flew from the street to the grass area beside the freeway. I didn't see it happen but the front end of the truck was smashed and the bike was twisted up bad.

you don't have to agree.... I've been a professional driver for 10 years... it is ILLEGAL to make a right hand turn from any other lane than the right lane. by law a rig driver can take up all the on-coming lane once he makes the right turn for the trailer tires to clear any curbs, but cannot swing wide to make the corner. yes sometimes a driver has to break the law to make a turn but it then falls into the responsibility of the driver to make sure drivers don't sneak in on their right side. The driver made an ILLEGAL turn and people died. Was it the drivers fault completely,no, but that does not change the fact that it was an illegal turn.

also.... since the driver contributed to the accident, by making an illegal turn, it will go on his/her DAC record as a preventable accident. Regardless if a ticket is issued or not. That is the kinda of cool CDL holders have to deal with once they recieve the magical license.

Both graduated from Pearland, Brian Burtrane (might have messed that last name up) & Joey (not sure of last name). 21/ 22 yrs old. One was a marine. Friend was on the scene and said it was the worst thing he had ever seen. Guess they were both pretty torn up.

R.I.P.

edit: Just saw the chronicle link. Guess they were both 21

One of the very few Houston Comical articles I have seen involving motorcyclist fatalities that places onus on someone besides the motorcyclists. Interesting.
