I had a great time, and thanks for posting up all of the pics I will have to see if I can get some of your guys out here to S.A. for one of my rides.

Welcome. That's quite a trip.

Would suck if that green truck backed up and knocked all our bikes down like dominoes.

We had a great time. Too many to list but here's the short of it: Thanks to Joy and Grubz for getting this together, Thanks to NoFear and R6Nick for the passenger help, and thanks to everyone else for a truly kick first group ride. Melissa got a great introduction to bikes. She says hello ladies. I absolutely loved sweeping for the lost boys crew. Neal get well soon buddy, hate to see you go down but love to see you get back up. Steph I'm glad things weren't a lot worse than they were. Keep some tic tacs in your jacket. Can't wait for the next one. Oh right, my first forest ride is this weekend. Woo hooo!!!!!

You can take this as criticsm or you can take this as constructive critism, your call, but what would be helpful is for the event organizers to decide on a route, educate several designated people on this route, and make copies of maps with the route highlighted and provide them to these designated people. (A rule of thumb is no less than one map per every five riders on a ride.)

In one of the lost groups while on the side of the road, someone asked me where FM 2004 was. At the time we were on Business 288 just south of Angleton proper. I pointed east and replied "It's way over there; we're a stone's throw from Highway 288 and due north of Freeport where we are now. Were we supposed to be on 2004?" I didn't get an answer. Since I didn't know the route, I didn't know if we were lost or just behind the lead group.

Although it all worked out in the end, it's a little disconcerting for the principal organizer of the ride to get lost with a group and then admit to not knowing what Plan B is. Leaders lead. Make a route map or take the freeway next time.

i know i didn't print maps... because i forgot to... but the pre-ride meeting i told eveybody the route and which directions we would be turning on which roads, so everybody was there and heard it.
