Correct. The ninja has a pretty decent riding position. My legs do not feel cramped either.

Offer still stands. If I end up buying a bike you suggest, I'll buy you an oil change @ Motorcycles Unlimited.

I do all my own maintenance, just trying to help.

the standards 600 classes, etc, SS bikes are good for a comfortable commute you'd find around town(Im considering under 40 miles) I can point out some that ride everyday from coldsprings to Motorcycles Unlimited etc on yam1k's...

if you would be happy w a bike with more of an upright position would that disappoint you if you were joy riding at the track or backroads?

How about a bandit? yzr?

I can sell you an '03 VFR800I with under 13k miles for $5200, immaculate condition. I know it's well over your range, but I won't take a free oil change

Ninja 650R. It's a lot faster than the 250, but nothing crazy, comfortable, easy to work on and find parts for, and can easily be had for a price within your budget.

buy my sv650 for 4009.18! throw on a corbin or sargent seat and you can do some touring
but seriously, the sv is easy to ride and you wont be launched into hyperspace by twisting the throttle. it can still go pretty fast, as i have made evident to myself on some backroads.
it isnt especially fuel hungry if you are just commuting with occasional crazy driving, and it's been pretty easy to work on. my only problem has been my inexperience with bikes.

Saw a V-Storm on my way to work. Looked like it was very comfortable.

Also so a similar-looking triumph. Not sure what model
