Unhappy 2005 Yamaha R6 dying, losing, power.

I have a 05 R6. miles unknown. purchased from craigslist.

This bike has been sitting @ gm motoring for bodywork since 7-10-2008
Just picked it up today at noon.
Went to katy for a ride. my 1st yammy, i was exited and opened it up on the freeway. got to my destination safe. An hour later left, jumped back on the
highway. doing bout 93mph, the bike stalled, no power, no matter how much i gave throttle, nada. quickly merged off and this ride came to a stop.
All lights were still on. i imagined i must of broke the chain, it was still intact and fine. no leaks, and temp at a steady 1776F highway/209F street

turned key, lights came on, and i was off. all gears shifted and i'm good again.

Is this the usual yamaha behavior?

I'm clueless and disappointed.

I'm looking for possible suggestions, so i may be able to troubleshoot.

Thanks for any future input.

check under the seat and see if you blew a main fuse....

when you turn the key on, do you hear your fuel pump engage?

if it was your clutch your rpms would be going up but the bike wouldnt be going any faster, it wouldnt just shut off....check all the fuel lines and make sure there not kinked or crimped anywear...check connection to fuel pump. is the f1 light on?????

That temp is almost a thousand degrees too hot!

I think you may be better off trying for some answers on www.r6-forum.com Make sure their aren't any recalls or anything. Also, check out the fuel filter. I am pretty sure it is located inside the tank on the fuel pump, though. Was it bogging down or sounding like a Ducati? Could be a bad plug or coil.

Actually, I'd say it's AT LEAST 1500 degrees too hot.:hs Like I said though, he would be better off torching that thing, or trading up to a Buell Blast.

Check your wiring. Matt's 03 had some melted wiring randomly. Shorted some connections intermittently. Fixed it and presto.

Do you not have a radiator or possibly a live fire underneath the engine? I think 1700 degrees is a bit to hot.

Check all your electrical connections too. A lose cable somewhere can cause you some trouble, check grounds, power, fusible links, and your FUSES! haha

Good Luck!
