Well, first thing is decide on a budget. . . are you paying cash - how much do you have saved for this. . . if finance - how much a month can you pay + call insurance company for quotes on different types of bikes cause a 250 will be a lot cheaper insurance than a 600 or above. And if you're ballin - don't worry about it. Get what you want.

That's where I would start out.

you know and i catch alot of shyt for it but i love my 250.. and hey i get better gas mileage then most of these guys.. and im not gonna cry too much if i drop it..

it all depends; I learned on a 600 and i still have it. *knock on wood* haven't dropped it in all of my 3 years of riding. then again I'm 5'10" and pretty strong, and i can flat-foot near any bike. So, it just all depends.

I started on a 600cc as well and glad I did. Im already wanting a litter bike like a ZX-10. Ive been only riding since Jan. of this year. If I had started in anything smaller I would have been . Im not a a weekend rider. I rode my bike everyday since I got it rain and all. Just learn your bike and take it slow. Oh yeah, ALWAYS keep your gear on!
