well my first bike was a 700. i also took the MSF first, and only rode the 700 in my neighborhood on empty streets and parking lots for the first 50 miles. no lie. it takes a long time to rack up 50 miles without going anywhere. i waited to get into traffic and bigger roads until i was ready, but not everyone is overly cautious like that.

has this guy even taken the MSF, or ridden before? if not, then yeah, have him post pics so we can imagine it with more damage and know what we are going to be able to bid on it once it hits ebay....

i understand he is your freind, and he thinks he knows it all, but listen to me. make SURE that he gets a good high quality HELMET, JACKET, GLOVES and all the right gear. HE IS GOING TO NEED IT. and if you let him on that beast without it, YOU ARE LETTING HIM DOWN AS A FRIEND. i dont want to condemn him, or wish anything bad for him, but rather im worried for the safety and well being of a fellow enthusiast. and dont bother getting stuff that looks cool, ITS GOING TO LOOK LIKE AFTER IT MEETS THE ASPHALT ANYWAYS.

other than that, tell him congrats on the bike, and keep the rubber side down.

I hope he doesnt hurt any innocents. He will AT LEAST drop that bike. . . more than likely he will realize in a 1 nanosecond flash how unforgiving that bike is and he will possibly die for it.

Hope he doesnt. . .

I've got pics of an 18 year old kids bike that had mommy and daddy buy him an 05' ZX-10r for his first bike as a graduation present. He went round here talking for weeks, how his 10r would smoke my 12r off the line, through the turns, and on a straight. I wasn't going to race the kid to prove him wrong, because I knew he'd kill himself trying to keep up. He continued to talk mad , thought he was hot stuff and could handle it because he had driven hi-performance cars (a 95 turbo eclipse, LOL). I struck it up as youthful ignorance, and wished him well. Several weeks later, the inevitable happened. He lived barely, I guess Darwin took it easy on him that day. But the bike didn't even have 800miles on it and it is .
