r1 vs r6 question

ok so i was planning to get an r6 here soon. and i was out on my friends r1 and litterally got my legs burnt. guess when the air goes thru the engine and it comes out the side of the fairings it burnt my calfs all up. i was wondering if anyone can tell me if the r6 is the same. if the air or whatever comes out from the side of the bike like that. cause i know on the gsxr750 it shoots out the side but its not the same. dont know if im explaining this right or not, i just dont want to get a bike that im gonna be hurttin on

Look on the bright side, at least in winter season, it will keep you warm. BTW, you should be wearing jeans or protective clothing when riding. Shorts and flip flops is a no no.

He's talking about air flow from the radiator to the engine out the fairing to the legs, moving.

This is not normal. Go find a different R1 and compare. You shouldn't be getting ur legs "burnt" from heat release lol

This is normal on 07 and 08 R1's. I have an 08 R1 and so does my buddy. Mine used to get really really hot at my ankles. Even at night. I would have to pull my legs off the pegs because it was very uncomfortable. I put a Akro Y-pipe and got ride of the Cats and it helped the heat a whole bunch! Its not a big deal now. I bet it dropped 20degrees without the cats on it. Its still warmer than my old R1 but its no big deal now.

Don't have any problems with heat on my 08 R6 at all. Let me know and I can let you take a ride on it after its been running for awhile so it's not cold.

Send me a PM.
