James McCann RIP (hope its not a repost)

LEAGUE CITY — A man died Friday morning when a piece of a blown tire from an 18-wheeler knocked him off his motorcycle in traffic.

James McCann, 35, of League City, died at the scene of the accident, which happened at 6:15 a.m. in the southbound lanes of Interstate 45.

The tire was on the pavement and flew up in the air when a car hit it, League City police spokesman Sgt. John Jordan said. The flying piece of the tire hit McCann’s head and knocked him off his 2005 Suzuki GSXR 600 motorcycle, Jordan said.

The car behind McCann swerved to miss him, but a truck hit McCann and dragged him for about 200 yards, Jordan said.

McCann was wearing a helmet, Jordan said.

that's very sad. I'm not suprised to hear the occasional RIP due to some speed demon hitting a car when a little to right wrist happy (still saddened, but what do you expect when doing 140 in houston traffic?), but its a wholely new sobering issue when you here about a fellow commuter doing his daily ride and some freak accident happening. RIP

And adding insult to tragic injury is you have people speculating and throwing out thier opinions in the other thread, without waiting for the facts. But that's become pretty typical.

But no need to this thread as well. We will keep this one respectful.

Taken on Sunday. Meet spot before our SMR. RIP bro.

Mike is survived by a wife and three children. Donations to his family may be made by contacting "J" at www.tattooworldorder.com, his employer.

Mike was brought to his first group ride with us on July 4th. He has a GSXR 1000 at that time. We gave him about getting out to the track and he visited Texas Track Days event at TWS (Texas World Speedway) shortly thereafter.

He then decided that we want to downsize his 1K and posted on Craigslist that we wanted to trade. This is what he rode last Sunday.

He then found someone with a GSXR 600, he seemed to be fond to the Suzuki's and traded for it. This was the bike he was on.

Mike loved to make jokes and cut and paste some of our heads and put them on funny Pics. Here are a few he had done as recently as Wednesday.

Y'all know this fella as Hooligan
china

And this guy I won't mention his name....

And he tried to take a poke at me...but I thought I looked good!
eyes

This was him at his first Track Day. He was so proud! He bought a real fancy picture of him. Had the borders and read Texas Track Days real big on the bottom. It was his signature on another site and by MH rules was WAAAAAAAYYYYY too big!
Picture115

Mike was a great guy! Funny and witty as heck! He was a tatoo artist and always volunteered to hook any one up that needed some work. He commuted from League City to Hwy 6/Westl Little York. He was a daily commuter, backroads twisty fan and when time permitted he liked the track.

You will be missed dearly my friend.

Good tribute. My condolences and sympathy out to his family. That's real rough.
