Mladins DQ part 2

The appeal of Mat Mladin’s disqualification from the AMA Superbike races August 16-17 at VIRginia International Raceway will not be heard this weekend at Road Atlanta, according to AMA Pro Racing Special Projects Manager Bill Syfan.

Mladin won both races in Virginia, his eighth and ninth wins of the season, but in the technical inspection following the second race the crankshaft in his Rockstar Makita Suzuki GSX-R1000 was questioned. After further investigation, the part was deemed illegal, and Mladin was stripped of his wins. Mladin’s team has appealed the ruling.

Last week AMA Pro Racing Director of Competition Colin Fraser said, “Our hope is to resolve the issue at Road Atlanta…”

But there will be no appeal hearing this weekend in Georgia.

“We’re in the paperwork phase right now,” Syfan told Roadracingworld.com Thursday. “I’m producing a document that will layout who, what, when, where and why of everything up to this point, when things were received, more detailed information about our inspection. And we’ll give that to Yoshimura [Rockstar Makita Suzuki]. Then they can send in their paperwork off of that.”

AMA Pro Racing’s hope now is to complete the appeal process before the AMA Superbike Championship finale September 27-28 at Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca.

Yosh (and subsequently Mat) will not win the appeal. This will give US Suzuki a great excuse to bail on the AMA if the rules package isn't what they want for 2009 because, after all, the AMA must be out to harm Suzuki's image, right? And if Mat isn't racing with the Yosh team stateside because of circumstances such as this, he might have a clause that releases him to do whatever he wants elsewhere. I'm predicting he goes racing either as a low-buck privateer in WSBK or a highly paid factory rider in the Japanese Scooter series.

If Mat leaves the US, he wikll have to take a pay cut to keep racing. Unloess of course he finds a personal sponsor to cover his salary. The european teams just don't have the funds for the most part. I think your right though, I could see him in the Japanese superbike seris. Maybe double duty in the FIM World Endurance.

Current CMRA member/ employee.

He doesn't make the decisions, he just puts out the publicity for the AMA/ DMG.

I don't think Mat cares too much about the money per se, I think he's well off enough and doesn't have to make the money he earns to survive, a pay cut to him wouldn't hurt him.

Spies- gone MotoGP
Mladin- to WSBK? FIM Endurance?
Tommygun- #1 rider Yosh
Cardenas- #2 rider
Eslick- #3 rider?

It's all publicity so that we'll watch the first race of the DMG reign next year.

I'm not watching anything.....sorry.
Yosh = Factory Suzuki has already stated they will NOT participate in the DMG program. Factory Honda neither.

Ben's Motogp ride is not concrete yet, that I know of. Cardenas has another year on his M4 contract...so. Eslick I don't know..maybe.

Essentially take the top 3 current riders out of the picture and then those guys will be winning. I see B. Bostrom & E. Bostrom in Daytona Superbike on R6's. I see Disalvo on a American Superbike R1. Steve Rapp & Hacking on a American Superbike ZX10r. Davies & R. Hayden on Daytona Superbike zx6r's.

Of course I could be wrong....lol I'm just spitballin'

Somebody will make that happen. I'd wager good money on that. I can see a satellite Honda team picking him up- they'll be some spots at Gresini.

I know you mentioned Rog, but don't forget about Tommy; if Yosh pulls out, someone will give that dude a ride. He's too consistent and experienced right now for him to be out of a job.

I can definitely see the Bostrom's in on the action at the top. Not to mention they'll take full advantage of the marketing with their clothing and safety lines. I get sick of seeing them in between and with the "let's follow Ben/ Eric around the pits" BS.

For family reasons, I doubt Mladin will leave the states.

He doesn't have to "leave" the States to race WSBK, besides, he still has a home in Australia.

His whole family is here, he's friggin' rich and travels a LOT. He also has his own aircraft as well as a aircraft charter business iirc. He and Hurricane Hannah are buds and fly together quite a bit.
