New to MH! 2002 SV650s

Sup!
A little about myself and the bike:
2002 Suzuki SV650s
About 9000 Miles
40 - 50 MPG

This was my first bike and I feel pretty confident on it. I am still a beginner rider with only a year of riding under my belt.
I have probably seen 1 SV650 on the road since I got the bike. I guess SV's aren't so popular? Either way its a great starter bike.

I would like to modify my bike but don't know too much about carbs, rejetting etc. (catpoopman geocite). I would love to know if anyone has an SV and would be interested in helping me with modifications/maintenance in the future.

See you guys at upcoming meets.

Welcome to the family!

SVs are great; there are many on here. I'd keep it simple and do a slip on or cut the stocker, tires, brakes and the rest being ergonomics(grips, levers, stomps, etc.)

SV 650? So close to gettin' one, they make AWESOME 'fighter bikes. I am on the SW quite a bit, maybe I will run into you... not literally though. And just to put this out there, the '02 SV doesn't have EFI? Hmmm...

Nope, 2002's were carburated. My first bike was a 2002 Sv650s. Now I've got a 2005 SV650s. There's plenty of them out there, you just have to look.

I live on the SW side/Sugarland area. Its a silver SV650s and i basically use it as a daily commuter to college and work. just nervous about getting hit with rain one day (as of today i have a ziplock bag in my rear seat). yes.. the 1st gen Sv's are carbed. which sucks because the exhaust sound isn't that nice compared to injected. I desperately need a new exhaust but that will have to wait till college expenses clear my account.
SV's ARE great bikes. the two things that annoy me most about the bike is the exhaust note and the "claw" hand for a stand.

maybe thats just yer bike... my bike is carb'd and it has a marvelous, almost smoker's cough sound to it when I first crank it up in the morning... music to my ears! But 1st gen SV's are carb'd, need to keep that in mind when its time for a new bike...

My carb'd SV with an M2 full exhaust had a great sound to it. I liked it better than my current '05 with a Yoshi.
