GSXR 750 or 1K Something or Other?

I currently ride a 2003 FZ1 with lots of mods. I'm looking to replace it very soon and can't seem to make up my mind over the GSXR 750 or a 1000 in the Kawi ZX10 or Honda CBR1000RR. I really like the 750. With a few minor mods, it should be just as quick as what I currently have. I just can't make up my mind. I want improved if not the best handling with a good amount of power to boot. The 750 SEEMS like the total package I'm looking for. I guess with the ZX-10 and CBR1000RR, I would get more power than I REALLY need and the handling will not be as good as the 750. I don't need a "flux-capacitor" bike. Also, I weigh about 200 lbs and thinking that might be an issue with the 750, too. I don't know what to do.............

I ride mostly street with the occasional track day.....

Get an 05/06 gsxr 1k. They were the best bikes except for the frame(don't crash it) if you want something newer I would get the 08 cbr 1k. Or you can wait for the 07 gsxr 1k and see what they did to it. I don't think you will be real happy with a 750 unless you are using it for the track. More power is ALWAYS better.

Weighing 200 lbs wouldn't be a problem riding even a 600.

I would imagine you will throughly disappointed with the ergonomics of a full SS bike compared to your FZ1.

I have a 1st gen FZ1 and an '04 GSXR 750. You will NOT be disappointed with the power of a 750. It is not as torquey as the 1000 but will defintely make your eyes wide.
That said, you should consider the ergos carefully. If the focus is track or shorter street blasts, no problem. Even commuting would be OK, but if you want to ride to El Paso then a less aggressive riding position is a good idea.
My 750 is track only and I feel well suited to the job. On the other hand the new CBR1000 weighs less than most 600s, that should make for one heckofa ride!

I agree however, among other things, I raised the rear of the FZ about 1.5 inches and put the GYT-R low bar mounts and Ti Bar. I know it's not a true "super sport" but it's definately not as comfortable as the origibnal

Had an 05 gsxr1k...totaled it in march and looked at all of the new bikes. None fit as good as the 05, so I bought an 06 gsxr1k. I love that bike. Incredible, easy to ride fast, tons of parts/mods available.

I was in the same position, I got the 08 ZX10R and man its a blast. I also talked with another guy that has both the 08 ZX10R and CBR1000, he said the ZX10 was all out to the wall but the CBR handled better and was more "fun"

Don't get me wrong, I LOVE SPEED! I just don't think I need to travel fast enough to go back in time. Would I like the 1000 cc's? SURE Would I ever use THAT much all the time? Probably not. I guess that's why I'm looking at the 750.
There's also that ugly front on both the CBR and the ZX. I can't get over the ZX; the Honda.......Maybe. The GSXR is b-e-a-u-tiful.
I guess the next Q I have is torque on all three compared.

well if you're not worried about speed i wouldnt worry about torque.

we all know the gsxr has more poser points for when we go to pp1.
