Oh , Gixxer-Joy's argument just lost credibility .

I agree that you don't have to make up anything. If you would have said the same thing when your mind was thinking clearly, then stick with it. If you didn't mean to say that, then let him know (this is the same thing Sniper1 said).

As to the stock bike discussion. I wouldn't be too impressed with a stock bike if someone was fishing for a comment. I would give a generic "That's cool" and talk to them about coming on a group ride or something. I really don't give a if their bike is stock or not because owning one is about riding. I do appreciate the beauty of aftermarket mods and would take the time to look at the bike in close detail.

Then, there is always the bling vs. performance mods discussion. Everyone has their own ideas about what they want on their bike as Captain M said.

You could have said, "Yea, man." That would have been good.

But when you said, "Sure, why not." That definitely comes off a bit rude.

That's like if a GF asks you, "Hey hunny? Do you think I am pretty?"

You: "Sure, why not."

Is it that they don't work, or is it that you just don't know how to work them?

just think you were put in a odd situation and just blurted out something. i mean, unless you are with friends or family, you just aren't accustomed to people coming to ASK for a compliment. I prolly would have said the same thing...

Can't we all just get along? Stock, not stock, it's all good. The fact that we all ride and enjoy riding should be enough.

If somebody was fishing for compliments like that, I would just say yeah it's cool and ask if they have gone on any nice rides. Since he over reacted, I would just tell him I didn't intend to come across that way but had some other things on my mind. I bet everything would be cool then.

You scratched your bike putting on frame sliders? The irony there is kind of funny, don't you think? I knew you didn't know how to use tools.
