those are a LOT of fun, very different ride than a bike, much more like an ATV or snowmobile. We got 2 demos on the floor at my job, so people have been out trying em and riding em around. i have ridden 3 of them as well, and get a kick out of it. that 990cc v-twin gets up and moves, plus its a much more comfortable ride for longer rides. I know one of the guys that bought one has a bad foot so he cant ride bikes anymore, but he loves his spyder!

i think the ONLY thing i do not like about them is the stupid oil filter on them, its a pain to get to.

That would be great if your pops gets that for your family!!

Another you may want to consider, although it is in the scooter category, is the Piaggio MP3, which I think oughto be alot cheaper!

Taken from Motorcyclist Magazine's MOTY 2008:

2008 Motorcycle Of The Year
BEST NEW TECHNOLOGY
122 0809 19 zpiaggio MP3

PIAGGIO MP3
Yes, it's a scooter. A three-wheeled one at that. But Piaggio's highly innovative, double-front-wheel architecture makes the MP3 more fun than any step-through has a right to be, able to make sportbike-mounted squids bleed through the ears in a tight, downhill canyon blast.
The MP3--available in 250, 400 and 500cc flavors--leans just like a Desmosedici, giving you all the flying-above-the-road thrills of a conventional motorcycle. But its two-wheeled, independently sprung, double-disc-brake front end delivers unprecedented cornering confidence. You can brake like a madman, then slam the thing over like Ben Spies, all without untoward risk to life, limb or skin.
Great though this front end is on a scooter, we believe its true potential lies in bigger, butcher, more-mainstream motorcycles. On a tourer, sport-tourer or even urban-naked bike, this ingeniously engineered setup might just help make motorcycling safer--and more socially acceptable.

Hey man, just trying to be helpful.

Does the Can-Am lean into the turns like a 2-wheeled bike?

the can am is gonna be like riding a snow mobile or atv, its a turn and steer not a lean vehicle. its REALLY weird if your reflexes are for a motorcycle, but after a mile or two you get used to it. i think they are silly looking but they are a lot of fun to ride!

2001 Corona Hayabusa!

I road tested one, back in June!

No lean, like a 2 wheel motorcycle at all! It is exactly like riding an ATV, but at much higher speeds! It took a little getting used to, but a fun ride for sure!
I love the look of them!

I would like to find a cheap used one, once they have been out a while, just have as a toy!

Good luck on getting one G2F!!

We all just found out. - But I agree, the scooter would be fun to ride, but forever? It's still a scooter. And I've never riddent a fat chick, so I can't really comment on it being fun.

I mean, how is the Can Am more acceptable than the MP3 thing? At 500cc, that MP3 thing can't be too bad.... at least you can get your lean on, aint that part of the fun of having a motorcycle? no leaning on the Can Am. Looks more like a handicap, over-glorified ATV to me. But this is all coming from the guy who REALLY wants a Honda Ruckus w/ a 200cc engine swap. And that guy would be me... BOOYAH!
