I don't think Nicky is making a mistake at all leaving Honda. Whether the machine is better or not, Repsol Honda turned their back on him even when he was on his way to a world championship! He was the #2 Honda rider while at the same time being the #1 GP rider. Kinda ****ed. He's a professional but any job where you know day in and day out that your boss considers you second best, even when the rest of the world doesn't, makes for a day at the office.

I think the Duc will be well suited for Nicky. Both him and Kangaroo have a dirt background. I believe this may be why the other riders are having problems with a bike that is suited so obviously to Fall Down Boy's riding style.

Won't matter, Rossi will repeat in 09!

True. It may take both of them to stop Rossi, I think however next year it will be Dovizio and Lorenzo's year. They will be the ones giving Rossi a tough time.

Lorenzo should get over his first year misery by then, he should also hopefully recover by then. So we should see a couple good battles between him and Rossi.

Dovizio for next year will have more support from his team, I think he'll be on a factory bike so definitly he'll be in it for the win.

As much as I hate to say it, Pedrosa will be breathing behind the leaders again.

Stoner & Hayden I'm not too sure about though, I think Rossi's gotten into Stoner now just like he did with Biaggi and Sete....

My predictions is Stoner/ Dovisioso/ Lorenzo/ possibly Elias to give Rossi competition next year.

The thing is, now Rossi is dialing in the 'Stones, and once he gets a firm hold on them, even a superior machine like the Ducati or Honda is not going to be enough to beat him all year.

I think Pedrosa will not be very effective next year to give a real chase to Rossi, and Lorenzo will have to grow up and mature with his racing to be a challenge as well.

I also think that Michelin is going to lose a bunch of riders next year...

That really is a problem, Bridgestone already has the majority of the ridership. I think if one more rider defects to Bridgetsones, Michelin will take their ball and go home.

Not what I want to see. Competition breeds advancement. A spec tire may make the racing closer, but in the end you lose a level of developement.

John
I agree 110%

I don't like the spec tire philosophy. It's just that Michelin has had LOTS worse performance this year than last, not to mention, they aren't able to build a decent tire for the mid-year to the end of the year this season. Riders are going to sign with the tire that is successful at the most tracks- can't blame them! , I could even see Colin Edwards who is extremely loyal to Michelin making the switch!

I hope Michelin steps it up and gets competitive enough to stay in it, I'd also like to see Dunlop make a return. I agree, in that particular industry, competition breeds excellence.

On a side note: Did anyone notice how/why stoner went down this weekend? I've heard the duc's rearsets are the lowest of any gp bike out there. Did this cause him to go down?
When the announcers said he had lost the front end, I was in disbelief. It looked like he had to much lean in the corner and picked up then slid the rear tire. I didn't see the front slide.... would be interesting to hear the view of some of the racers in the group.
