suzuki katana 96(sold)
honda cbr f4i 06 (sold)
ride my neighbors harley cuz he doesnt ride it

suzuki katana dislikes.......

well i started this thread to see the real reason people hate on katanas. over the year ive been on MH ive seen and read alot of dislikes and hatred for my first bike that in my opinion is a great first bike....i couldnt ride a 250 cuz im 6ft 3inch and 235lbs. im ready to sale her and upgrade but i hesitate to put it for sale on here (MH) due to people bashing my choice of rides so i wont get what shes worth. what i mean by that is some potential buyer reads my sale then reads someones negative opinion and foregoes my bike for something else....so with that said please tell me so i can read why some people dislike kanotunas so much......

they are heavy, not really a sport bike, hard to sell (trust me I owned one too), and for like 20 years they had the same body style. I remember replacing a starter on my 1988 Katana from a 1997. Suzuki did nothing to improve them or make them compete with other bikes in its class. It really was an excellent starter bike and I don't for one minute regret owning it. I just remember it being a pain in the to get rid of when the time came.

I think they are ugly to be honest. They really do need an extreme face lift.

However I don't hate on the bikes itself. Nor the riders. I have plenty of respect for Katana riders. Most of them aren't squids anyways.

i think the real question is for who all has owned one, if they haven't owned one, then they have no place to hate on them...

I never owned one...so I don't hate!

That made me sad...

Who knows, maybe Suzuki will finally give some much needed attention the Katana in the up coming years.

But I wouldn't mind if a Katana rider wanted to have his bike near mine if we were taking pics. You ride with 2 wheels. And that's what matters.

Plus again, I hardly ever see squid Katana riders.

Try not to care what others think of your ride. Those that look down on you because of it only make themselves look stupid.

I myself ride a 919, which in stock form, is a pretty tame "streetfighter" compared to all the others out there. It's a great bike regardless of what those who don't know think they know.

I think the Katana is a great bike, and not just for beginners. I think it's a very practical street bike, which is where you ride your bike... on the streets.

Resale has more to do with the market, and in this market (the American market), it's Win on Sunday, Sell on Monday. But it's always been that way, and there's nothing wrong with that. It just sucks for the resale of the more practical bikes like yours and mine. With gas prices the way they are, you should be able to sell that bike to someone who's just looking for a good streetbike.

I have one.

People use to laugh about it but I kept up with them in corners and kept riding when they wanted to stop. They were usually on gsxrs taunting the 'Can-a-tuna' and they were the ones that couldnt ride. Heavy bike? Yup. Underpowered, for sure. But got great mileage and I enjoyed it.

As for resale, more people ask me if Im selling it every week. I tell them no but there is alot of interest for it.

I believe it! As I mentioned already, in this high gas price market, there are gonna be many out there looking for a bike for more practical purposes, who don't care for the high-performance sportbikes.

they could use help in the looks depatment. but they aren`t bad looking bikes and they do have THE original gsxr air oil cooled engine! so they do have good power for what they are. old tech but okay for a beginner sport bike. a good rider on a katana can still tear up a fair rider on a newer sport bike.............

color-out turn signals, lowered, cut/shortened/blacked out exhaust, grille inserts and mesh air filter. I also painted the lower cowl.
