What is messed up is that they can do it all without it even going to court.

Ignorance of the law is no excuse. (at least thats what they always told me when I was a youngin )

Anyhow I think these bikers escaped the guillotine as the new laws do not take effect until Oct 1, 2008

Just one section of it

316.1926 Motorcycle offenses.

(1) When a law enforcement officer charges a person with
reckless driving in violation of s. 316.192 or exceeding the speed limit by 30 miles per hour or more in violation of s. 316.183(2), s. 316.187, or s. 316.189 while operating or in actual physical control of a motorcycle, the officer shall arrest the person, take him or her into custody, and seize the motorcycle, which shall be subject to forfeiture under the Florida Contraband Forfeiture Act.
(2) Upon conviction, in addition to any other penalty provided by law, the court shall revoke the person's
authorization and privilege to operate a motorcycle for a period of 10 years and order the person to surrender his or herdriver's license.

It'd suck even more if they wrecked and became a stain on the highway or took somebody else along with them.

That sounds like a knee-jerk law...but with knee-jerk laws, it took plenty of dumbasses to push it in that direction.

I hated riding in FL. I bought my 10r when I lived there. The weather is great, but most of the state is so crowded. There arent many good roads to play on, just commuting in a straight line (like I do now, lol).

At least TX has open areas that we can ride. It seemed like everything was built up in FL. With that new law taking effect, I'm even happier I moved.
