My Daytona quit on me

I guess the regulator/rectifyer is dead on the Daytona. Looks like 2 to 3 weeks of down time waiting for Triumph to go thru the warranty procedure and I can't be without a bike for that long so I went shopping.

I got a great deal from Pike at Galveston Honda. Of course, it doesn't include the trip to the jewelry store that I'm going to have to make.

I actually went to the Suzuki dealer first. An '07 1K was only a couple hundred less than I paid for the '08 Honda and an '08 750 was more. They weren't in the mode to sell a bike and Galveston Honda was.

OK so the service department called me and said I have a weak battery. They tested the charging system and it is working fine. Load tested the battery and said it is right on the line between weak and bad.

I had the battery on my Battery Tender Jr. and it green lighted in 12 hrs.

I guess what bothers me is that I figure the bike should be able to run on the alternator. I was on the freeway doing a steady 70 mph when it died. Am I wrong?

I enjoyed meeting and hanging out with you guys. Maybe next year when I need another reminder. Until then, I know I will be seeing you at the track.

Thanks.

Well I sure hope that is all it is. So much for having it done under warranty but at least I will have my bike back.

if you have a bad battery, it wouldn't run right either. Motorcycle charging system is very weak not like a car. If you have a bad battery on a Lexus, it would do the same thing. The computer is shutting down the bike early to save the electronics component from frying due to low voltage.

Congrats on the new bike.

I used to want a 675, but I am hearing WAY too many people having problems with their Triumphs in last 6 months.
