Welcome to the site. Check out Racer X's sticky concerning 600's as first bikeslink

That being posted an older 600 might not be a "bad" idea but this doesn't mean something that's 2-3 years old. I would look for an older honda f2 or f3 or something along those lines. Remember this is your first bike and you will have many more. Buying a used bike for 1500-2500 or so and being able to sell it for that after a few thousands miles is def the way to go.

Again welcome to our community.

Other than MFs whats your ridding experiance. You can do the 600 but the statistics are against you from the get go. If you dont think so search the RIP thead this year alone. I think body size has little to do with what bike you choose. I think thats a urban myth that was started by posers. Get a bike that wont break your bank when u crash. thats my advise

I started on a 600, and I'm not an exception...lots of people do it. Keep in mind you prolly will abuse your first bike, in one way or another, so buy used.
And do not forget to factor in gear, the good/necessary stuff gets pricy.$$$
Also, take the MSF course and get the M endorsement before tearing up the streets. Can't stress that enough!

Get a 6er if you have some wrist control. Some haterz will lead you to believe you will certainly die anything over a pea shooter for a first bike, but get what makes you happy.

Go sit on as many bikes as you can, and make a descision from there.

Not to mention that 1000's Supersports today are about the same size as their 600cc counterparts...

I ride a Suzuki

my advise its your money buy what you want.. you work hard for your money, why let anyone tell you how to spend it. Yout the one that has to ride whatever you buy.

Strength does not come from winning. Your struggles develop your strengths. When you go through hardships and decide not to surrender, that is strength-
