Its faded, the upper fairings have scuffs from where it was laid down before I bought it. It has 33000 miles, its 4 years old. I also like black.

rattle can flat will fade. i sprayed mine a few months ago and it looked great for a while, now it's just kind of like a chalkboardish gray.
do light coats, take your time, dont be in a hurry to ride the bike with the new paint.
dont get cheap with tape. use a couple of rolls to make sure you dont get any of the frame, bodywork, wheels, tires, etc. it's a lot easier to pull tape off than take paint off.
i'd wait until im able to get a decent sprayed on job, rather than rattle can it again. i have painted my bike like 3 times in the year or so that i have had it.

im about to get an actual paint job on saturday, hopefully i will never have to repaint my bike again.

and yeah, sand everything you want painted. it wont stick well on a painted surface that has clearcoat.
take the gastank off to sand and paint it.

do this with a buddy.
take your time.

you can get a flat, matte, or semi-gloss finish that lasts as long as you do it, or get it done the correct way. you just have to use an eggshell clear coat to keep the paint protected.
