Windshield / Race Plastics

If youíve got race plastics do you order a windshield based on your plastics or your original bike info?

My 03 SV-1000 track bike has (I was told) Sharkskinz. Its windshield has a Zero Gravity sticker or two on it. I can see that the bodywork is fiberglass I could not say for sure if it actually has either brand but the W/S is getting pretty ragged, Iím considering changing it and donít know what to order.

The windscreen is bodywork specific.

The bolt patterns should be the same and what kind of plastics you are rolling shouldn't matter, however there have been some fitment issues with some plastics and you might have to do a little drilling to get them to fit. And that Zero Gravity shows you have a Double Bubble windscreen. Race plastics are just cheaper to replace than OEM street plastics.

Say on my bike for example you can run any of the following three:

Bolt patterns do not change, but rather only the shape and style of the screen. SR - seems to be stock, Double Bubble - has the crease, and Sport-Touring - seems to be a bit higher as indicated in the type of riding you'd be doing.

I think this is incorrect!!!

body work is (should) be based on the factory pieces so the windscreen from your stock body work will fit any aftermarket race set up. As long as the race stuff is up to par! fitment may be poor therefore you will have to adjust mounting holes but shouldn't be a problem at all

I meant bike/bodywork specific. Like a 2006 GSX-R 600 with race glass will take the OEM screen, or any aftermarket replacement. An SV650 with GSXR bodywork will take the GSXR screen, etc. . .

Carbon, I clarified what I meant.

You can get any windscreen as long as it's for a SV1000. Sharkskinz bases their bodywork off stock, so you can even gen an OEM if you like.

Hit up Motorcycles Unlimited, they may even have one for you in stock

BTW, the '03-newer SV650 is the same as your 1k.

Ok got it thanks.
The one I have is not very clear any more and my last oops broke about an inch or so of the right half on the top. I donít see it as a functionality problem and I donít think ďtechĒ would have a problem with it. I only look through it when Iím trying to get ďunder the paintĒ on the straights. C.B. that I am Iíd rather spend my money on tires and trackdays so if anyone has a cheap spare w/s in fair or better condition for a SV1000 or 03 and up SV650, leme know.
