Another Rider RIP?

Another sad story... sorry, but I am with limited details.
My brother In-law just lent (12:00ish) his bike out to a co-worker (Trimane Brown)(sp?) from Clear Lake Honda. The co-worker said that he just wanted to drive it on the parking lot. Well a while later the local PD called Honda to let them know that the Brown had died from an accident. Nobody had realized that he left the dealership lot.The only details they have was that the accident happened on a bridge near by. Well that was what they got from the pd.
Did anyone see or hear about it?
Also, my brother in-law had his insurance cancled a couple of days ago, and was about to start another company. Since the bike wasn't insured at the time of accident; how will TX handle the case?

Sorry to hear about that..!!! My condolences to his Family and friends.

Interesting situation...Can he get sued by the Family..???

Are we liable if we borrow our bikes and someone gets hurt/death..???

Brown had taken off on the bike without any gear. He was not supposed to leave the dealership lot. I personal wouldn't have let anyone take my bike, but that is me. My brother in-law gave hime that key and went back to work. I am sure that the bike is gone, even if he had insurance it was only liability.

Grubz, who are you saying should be responsible? I can see both ways.
1) never let anyone on your bike without gear etc...
2) the co-worker is an adult able to make his own decsion etc...

To be honest, I don't know the relationship that my brother had with him. My brother has only been working there about 6mos give or take. My brother is one of those guys that "what is his is yours too". I my brother is sweating his nards off, but I feel more for his famliy when they have to hear about it. My brother may have lost a bike..but somebody just lost family.

As aked earlier..It was a 99 red and white R6. My brother just bought it from Hooligan March of this year.

....as long as the rider in question was a 'legal adult' the onus is his own.

You never know though, in my accidnet in 91, Cops cited the kid/rider at fault as cause of the accident, but the uncle had called me wanting me to pay for the bike.

I just talked to my wife. I guess my brother and Tremayne were somewhat close friends. My brother is hurting bad. They had sent him home to settle down. I guess Tremayne was a bike addict. He has gone down before, with injuries but couldn't give-up that love for "Two Wheels". I believe the accident happened on the new overpass by Nasa Rd. Apperently they still haven't cleaned up the roads because they are full of dirt and debris.

The rider is the responsible one. He is the one who would be ticketed if he had lived. The owner is not liable. No pro here, but see it for what it is.

For the love of my brother, I hope that is how things still work. Being in the military and seeing how every state, city or town likes to run things there own way; I am always concerned with that kind of stuff. Thanks for all the responses and concerns.

If you know Tremayne, my prayers and thoughts are with you and his family...especially his wife and kids...
