He rides an '08 Busa that he had painted and he did the LED's himself. The job is outstanding, I've seen more escort bikes than I could count, and I seriously thought that this one was a factory job. Everything down to the siren looks like it's where it belongs. Laughing he said that no one has gotten away from him anymore, somehow I don't think he was joking.

The guy is nice beyond words, I spoke to him Monday morning as he was writing court invitations. I've given him the board info here and hopefully he'll drop by and say hi. He's a reformed Honda-potumous (GW) rider and is interested in going out on some group rides too.

If you see him out in Dickenson, stop and talk to him, he's a nice guy.

Police bikes are not "city property" like marked police patrol cars. The officers ride what they choose (as long as they meet department policy) and receive an allowance. They trade their bikes in every couple of years for tax purposes.

About the Busa, yeah he had to have it painted because unlike HD, Honda and Kwaks, Suzuki doesn't make factory police bikes. The others offer police bikes at substantial discounts to officers that ride them for duty purposes. You can't be a beat cop and walk up to the dealer and ask for a discounted bike, you have to have a departmental letter for the dealer to order the unit. People (dumbasses) have lost their jobs faking letters to get bikes for cheap like that before.
