WARNING

If you do go out to ride racer road * DO NOT go down by the bridge*! Some a$$hole threw a ton of inch long nails down all over the ground on the way down and in the circle. One of the guys with me today caught a nail before we actually noticed there were hundreds of brand new nails everywhere. We picked up what we could but stay away. We didnt check the area up top near the monument so BEWARE !

wonder if they fell off the nail truck, or if someone intentionally spread those around

Yep, they are pretty fed up by now, I have been going out there since 1986, and they were annoyed back then, I pretty much just cruise it now..
I do remember when there was a park under the bridge and the state took care of it, picnic benches and everything, you could sit and enjoy the view of the water..

I was gunna hit up that road yesterday around 2pm, but a sheriff warned us about troopers heavily patrolling the entire area.

Thats the difference between state troopers and local sheriffs. lol if you get my drift

I remember about 2 years ago, some guys got busted on Deal's Gap (tail of the dragon) putting stuff in a lot of the corners... and they got sentenced to attempted murder or homicide (something like that)

this incident sounds like it could have been unintentional though... but thanks for the heads up!

let me know if he needs a new tire...

everyone else, ride safe... the "wreck" threads are everywhere...

No it was intentional brand new roofing like nails all over.. we picked up nails for almost 45 minutes... nice and short one's that easily stand up when driven over.. they were spread out and in piles in some places.. Each of us picked up at least 4 handfuls from the bottom to the top of the road..

thanks Tejas I think he picked up some new rubber that same day.. Everyone take it easy out there!
