Bike almost got jacked last night!!

well a few days after someone stole my bike license plate....last night somebody tried to jack my bike. Just my luck right? Well I figure I'd be more careful so I parked it at my friends house next to the front door entrance and put a disc lock on it. Well about 1-2 hours later I come back out to my bike to see my ignition messd with. Half dented an such...just wasn't the same. Now the must have been strugglin with it and gave up, or they saw the disc lock on it and said 4get it. Don't know which 1 it was but lets just say I'm glad I put a disc lock on it. Yeah they coulda easily snatched it some other way of course...maybe they woulda came back with a truck or somethin. So I think the disc lock bought me some time. Just reminding ya to watch ur ...people dont give a how hard you worked for your stuff.

Yeah I sure as did. It made my blood boil as soon as I saw that...even though they didnt actually take the bike I really wanna find out who did this. Maybe just set it in the middle of the driveway and watch the bike, an if someone tries to make an attempt then its time to shatter some bones

thats a good idea i have an old car... i will park down the street and when they go for it i will run over them

to really make it intresting we can just put some boxes in the driveway and put a bike cover over it

Well as some of the people who have been around a little while may remember i got really lucky as well. I had both bikes on either side of me jacked *RIP PAULS BIKE* and my was with.

It is a scary thing to see someone has with your . It is a feeling of violation that makes that you feel like staking out and beating . However, you probably wont stake anything out and even if you did its probably not worth the legal ramifications.

Great work with the disk lock. Glad you still have your baby. HIDE THAT ! Outta' sight, outta' mind!

sounds like this town seriously needs some "bait bikes" or something. i think it would be up to communities like ours to make something like that happen. what can we do? who can we talk to?

lets DO something about this for real, on a grand scheme. i guess a good first start would be for everyone to get lojack, now that we can get em for our bikes. think about it guys, its worth the price, and the peice of mind.

but lets brainstorm, is there anything else we can do?

I'm glad they didn't get your bike.
xris24, if you're going to do something like that you need to do it offline and with no electronic trail, i.e. no e-mails, p.m.'s, AIM etc.

what you might look into is a killswitch. I had one installed on my bike it was like 200 bucks or something not expensive. Its like an alarm kinda but hooked right up to the electrical system of the bike, even if my ignition was completly replaced unless you have the button to turn the killswitch off it cant be turned on, even if they did use a truck to take it and tore the system out of the bike they would need to completly re-wire the entire bike new ignition, computer and all.

for some reason i dont think it would be that hard, all you would have to do is close the circut, sense all that button is, is prob like a light switch.

Yeah it does seem like it gets messed with. I do store it in the garage when I'm away from it. It's just horrible now...I'm even more paranoid about my bike. I say we all do somethin about this whole bike theft thing. Although Patrick is right about keepin it on the low low

Yeah that's what I'm in need of, an alarm! I'm still saving up for a jacket though so I'd rather protect myself before the bike. I promised my girlfriend no more $$$ on the bike haha. Every paycheck I've gotten I put into the bike and repairs. Maybe just a alarm + lojac + jacket and I'm set no more no mas. Is installing the scorpio pager alarm fairly easy? I might need some help if anyways knows how.
