If the bike spent some time lying on its side, gas and oil can get to places they're not supposed to, and gum up the works. Along with a compression check and leakdown test, I'd suggest getting the carbs looked at.

Thanks for all the advice everyone. The problem was a clogged line that fed gas to the carbs. After cleaning that out, bike runs like a champ again. It was just weird that is did this while the bike was stolen.

you know whats funny at the apt i live in a guy had a busa that he kept outside, and they jacked that. but i have left my keys in my bike with the engine running and its always been there. there is no market for a 250, they are too cheap and the risk isnt worth the reward

I only hope you're right. If not, looks like my insurance company will be mailing me a fat check and I'll be upgrading to a 500R .
