Hello

Hello all. Some of you already know me as Texlurch's wife. I don't normally post because I have issues remembering my password and well apparently I am not a people person. But after a conversation I had with a kid in my office yesterday I felt the need to sign on. There have been so many wrecks with injury and death lately that it is scary to see how STUPID so many people are. This kid was telling me that by December he hoped to buy a 600 of some sort and be on the road riding like a pro. His skills would be learned from his 13 year old cousin who informed him that he could have him riding up and down the street within 30 minutes. What a scary thought. Unfortunately if this person succeeds in getting a bike I'm sure I will see him on the news as yet another senseless casualty. I know everyone is tired of the preaching but I can't stress enough how much the MSF course and proper gear are important!

For those of you participating this weekend in the un-memorial ride for pigpen be safe

Welcome again...

If u can steer your coworker to this forum maybe we can encourage him to slow down, wear gear and offer up the best opportunities we can short of riding his bike for him...

unfortunately I think he is just beyond hope. He has never been on a bike, I told him he should start on a 250 but he thinks he will just look stupid. At this point there is no reasoning with him cuz he is young and invincible.

the thing is everyone at one time had never riden a bike and everyone else tryed to stop them, but we still got one and rode. when i got my bike on march 16 05 " suzuki gsxr 600" i had never riden a bike or 4 wheeler or anything other than my truck. the thing is dont try and decourege a person from riding as u do thats hipocracy try and coach them into respecting the bike and not riding out of their means. help them cope with houston traffic and the problems faced with riding here. all im saying is everyone was a noob at one point or another.

Not discouraging him from riding only pleading with him to learn to ride properly with gear. Don't take lessons from your 13 year old cousin. THAT IS STUPID. However he feels that is all the teaching he needs and he will be an expert.

Unfortunately at that age, they "know" it all and are invincible. And peer pressure and perception is more important than anything.

If nothing else, log on the forum and show him the "wrecks this year" thread, and how many experienced riders have gone down. Prob still in the wind but worth a try.

Oh, and welcome back!
