Question Ohlins Damper Mounting Help!!!

Here is the deal, I got a *FREE* Ohlins Damper, but it came off of a 2007 ZX-10R. The front mount under the triple tree matches fine. But on the ZX-10R there are 2 bolts for the tank which the stock mounting bracket mounts too. But my tank (2006 ZX-6R) only has one bolt. Can I buy a mount (Anyone have one they will sell me?) or rig a bracket? Trying to keep the cost to a minimum. Let me know! Opinions matter! Thanks!

free is the best price ever, but if you're planning on REALLY riding, like track days and such, plan on an upgrade soon....the factory zx10 damper isn't all that great.....as for mounting....i'd have to see what your clearance looks like all around....but maybe you could drill and tap the frame? or build your own mount as you already suggested....

your damper probably isn't the "factory" damper off of a zx10.....and the aftermarket ohlins are different....and bad ....

I know you can call Ohlin/Scott and buy the bracket from them but it probably won't be real cheap. I think it's going to be pretty hard to fabricate something that's going to give you proper clearance and be good and stable.

hmmmm

well if you get time look at the bottom of the neck on the fraim of your bike , does it have a small hole with threads, and on the lower triple tree as well, that is how mine is mounted!

Call Ohlins in the morning they are very helpful people. You may need a different mounting bracket.

Okay, I am going to go look in a minute for that. On the triple tree, you scoot the handlebar down a little and the bracket goes between it and the tree. Just like on the zx-10r. I agree with not rigging a bracket considering that it is my steering depending on it. I wonder how much they will charge me for one?
