Yea make sure u do it very carefully and heat up those screws!!!!!!!!!!! I almost made a potentially costly disaster because i got to antsy and on my last screw I stripped it....

Make sure u dont actually pull all of them out one by one...just break em loose but have them still threaded just in case u strip one and have to tighten em back down to get it to a shop or something....

good luck

On the zx-14 there are primary butterfly valves that move with the throttle and secandary valves that move by electronic actuation....before 5000 RPM the secondary valves do not open for traction/safety purposes...then after 5500 RPm or so they open and give the zx-14 all its power which to me was really unmanageable...so you have no low end torque

by removing the butterflies it smoothes out the power band and adds a but load more torque down low

make usre u get a power commander because i hear by doing this u get a really lean fuel/air ratio with is potentially bad...

I had a ZX-14 and would be happy to help you with it. Be sure to get the Power Commander before you do it. Pretty simple actually, lift the tank and block it up. There are 2 cover plates below it that are held in by 3 screws each. Remove the covers and you will see the butterflys. You will need a #2 phillips screwdrive that is 8" or more long. Use a soldering iron to heat the screws and break the loctite loose. Make sure the throttle is closed and you have a magnet handy in case you drop one of screws. 8 screws and 4 flys later it will be ready for the PC and a test ride. DO NOT TWIST THE THROTTLE UNTIL YOU HAVE COUNTED ALL 8 SCREWS. You don't want one of them going in the intake.

PM me if you need a helping hand.

This mod is easily doable and should only take 30min to a hour of wrench time. But really is worth it....... be careful on the last screw to the left a lot of ppl including me have trouble getting it to budge> I even heated it up to break loose the fac. loctite and it still ended up starting to strip. Just be sure to put a lot of pressure down on the head of the screw> Worse case situation you have use a impact screwdriver i suppose. FYI there are a TON of maps for the powercommander on their site for set ups with out the flys. But like i said its worth it, its free minus the cost of the power commander< and youll be able to tell a big diff right off the line.
