Hayden backing out of the X-Games?

Disappointed Fans - many!

Me thinks he did terrible in practice and decided to back out.... injury was probably an excuse.

What do you all think?

Strength does not come from winning. Your struggles develop your strengths. When you go through hardships and decide not to surrender, that is strength-

I think MotoGP pays his bills, not Supermoto.

I would be. If I was making what he was on a motogp bike, if I had the SLIGHTEST inkling that I was going to hurt myself, I'd pack up shop.

A $5k purse wouldn't be worth my 6 figure GP salary.

i dont think he would be scared of the jumps didnt he race motocross when he was younger?

i can see him not wanting to take the chance of getting hurt though. im sure its not worth it for him

Oh I thought it was that the sun was getting in his eyes!
What a bait and switch deal that was. Wonder how many extra viewers they got (besides me) by attaching his name to it. What the , I record and skip the commercials anyway. Pretty cool seeing Burkhart blow it and 47 yr old Jeff Ward win.

yeah, main reason I was going to watch was Hayden. but whatever good racing anyways. And I don't know, but I think I remembered them something about saying his practice times were really fast, but his qualifying sucked. Can't find it anywhere so who knows?

EDIT: Found it

Nicky Hayden to race Supermoto in X-Games

Did you know that Moto GP World Champion, Nicky Hayden is competing in Supermoto in this weekends X Games?

The factory Honda rider asked his employer about racing the event but they didn't have a bike ready or the man-power to help him. So, they put him in touch with Troy Lee and he will be riding a Troy Lee Designs Red Bull Honda alongside Jeff Ward, David Pingree and Cassidy Anderson.

Nicky tested the bike several times this week and promptly posted lap times at Adams Cart Track in Riverside, one of the local Supermoto tracks, that were a full second quicker than the previous fastest lap at that track. Nicky follwed that up with some laps alongside his new teammates at the Honda supercross test track where he was a little less comfortable. Still, Hayden will be a favorite when the final blasts off the line for the Supermoto final this Saturday at 4:00pm PST. Watch it live on ESPN.
